So you have just purchased Trend Micro Internet Security Pro 2010, now what?

Trend Micro Internet Security Pro is designed to protect your computer from virus attacks & malware infections

Trend Micro is a completely self contained program and generally requires no user input. It is constantly scanning internet activity for any incoming threats. Manual scans are unneeded unless you believe that your computer is infected.

However you must realize that no Anti-Virus solution is 100% guaranteed

Those that create malware and viruses are always altering them to get past security software. Trend Micro is constantly updated to combat new infections.

It is possible to override or disabled the security software. Most infections are caused due to users inadvertently allowing malicious software to enter a user's machine. If you receive a message asking you to allow an unknown program to run, always select 'Block'

Having more than one Anti-Virus on your computer does not provide better protection. This usually leads to conflicts between programs and leaves you far less protected.

NEVER under any circumstances place personal, confidential, and / or financial information into a pop-up window that says you are infected. This IS part of the scam. If you notice anything like this occurring, please bring the computer in to have us remove it properly.

While browsing the web, you will notice that there is a new toolbar at the top of your web browser that says either 'Safe Page' or 'Dangerous Page'

A 'Safe Page' is a page that has been tested by Trend Micro and has been deemed safe by the Anti-Virus company itself. A 'Dangerous Page' has also been tested, however there are items on the webpage that could put your security at risk. If you see the 'Dangerous Page' warning, back out of the page and stay away from it in the future.

You may see 'Untested Page' in the toolbar at some point. This means that the webpage has not been tested by Trend Micro, therefore it is not possible to determine if the webpage is legitimate or not. The best option once you see this is to stay away from the site as there may be an infection present.

You may on occasion see a box such as the one below. This when Trend Micro detects that there is a program attempting to be installed on your computer. Unless you know exactly what the program is, always select 'BLOCK'

If you choose to allow a program to run & you are aware of what the program is, then you can place a check in the box at the bottom of this window that says 'Stop warning you about this program'
